Emotional Well-Being Workshop Proceedings Now Available!

Our partner network, the Network for Emotional Well-Being, hosted a workshop, New Perspectives on the Biology of Emotional Well-Being: Illuminating the Unseen, at the University of California, San Francisco last November.


This dynamic event brought together leading experts exploring emotional well-being through diverse biological lenses, including genomics, the microbiome, mitochondria, and brain plasticity.


Sessions and speakers included:


  • Omics and Emotional Well-Being: Mieke Bartels, Zachary Nagel, Andrew Steptoe

  • Microbiome and Emotional Well-Being: Jo Handelsman, Emeran Mayer

  • Mitochondria and Emotional Well-Being: Martin Picard, Caroline Trumpff

  • Brain Plasticity and Emotional Well-Being: Feng Vankee Lin, Brian Knutson, Robin Carhart-Harris


The workshop highlighted emerging biological pathways that shape emotional well-being and fostered rich, collaborative discussions about future research directions.
